"Tony Bennett: Duets II" airs on Great Performances on Wednesday, January 1st at 8:30 pm

In celebration of his 85th birthday, the legendary Tony Bennett released the critically acclaimed Duets II, which followed his Grammy-winning Duets CD, released in honor of his 80th birthday. Bennett made music history with Duets II when it debuted at the top of the Billboard Album charts, making Bennett the oldest artist to ever achieve the #1 spot. Featuring his greatest hits, performed by today’s biggest stars, Duets II was recorded live in studios from Los Angeles to London, New York to Italy, with Nashville in between.

"From Vienna: The New Year's Celebration 2014" airs on Great Performances on the 1st

Daniel Barenboim directs Vienna Philharmonic in the festive annual New Year’s celebration from Vienna’s Musikverein

Always one of “our favorite things,” we continue the cherished tradition of ringing in the New Year with the Vienna Philharmonic at the opulent Musikverein, under the baton of guest conductor Daniel Barenboim and featuring everyone’s favorite Strauss Family waltzes accompanied by the beautiful dancing of the Vienna City Ballet. In addition to the Musikverein concert setting, the broadcast will feature a picturesque range of Vienna landmarks. Stage and screen legend Julie Andrews will return as host.

"From Jesus to Christ, Pt. 2" on Frontline airs Tuesday, December 31st

FRONTLINE presents the epic story of the rise of Christianity. Drawing upon new and sometimes controversial historical evidence, the series transports viewers back two millennia to the time and place where Jesus of Nazareth once lived and preached and challenges familiar assumptions and conventional notions about the origins of Christianity.

In the second program, FRONTLINE examines the period after the first revolt, tracing the development and impact of the Gospels and looking at the increasingly hostile relationship between the Christians and the Jews. The film looks at another bloody Jewish war against Rome, the second revolt, assessing its impact on the Christianity movement. The broadcast documents the extraordinary events of the second and third centuries in which Christianity grew from a small Jewish sect to an official religion of the Roman Empire.

"Prange & Pearl Harbor: A Magnificent Obsession" airs on Monday, December 30th at 9 pm

One man's obsession, 37 years of his life, 10,000 pages of historical documentary, and the book he authored, are the focus of PRANGE & PEARL HARBOR: A MAGNIFICENT OBSESSION. This program explores the work of Gordon Prange, a University of Maryland professor who researched and wrote, At Dawn We Slept: The Untold History of Pearl Harbor, a book The New York Times called "impossible to forget." His other major works on the war in the Pacific include Tora! Tora! Tora!, which was made into a feature film in 1970.
