January 25, 1944. It is the peak of WWII in the Central Pacific, and 23 Young Marines are dispatched on a simple assignment - to relocate their planes to safety out of range of the enemy. What followed turned a "mile run" into the worst disaster in Marine aviation history, a harrowing 72- hour saga of life and death, tragedy and heroism.
