Welcome to the 35th Anniversary of Creative Living!

We are about to start a new series of shows in March and it will continue our celebration of our 35th Anniversary of the show.  Our new 6300 series will begin on March 7, 2012 and continues through August 29, 2012.  Thanks again for making “Creative Living” a part of your television viewing.

I'm currently working on the new booklet which will accompany the 6300 series.  It’s titled “The 6300 Series” and I'll let you know as soon as it is ready to upload.  I hope you will enjoy it.  Several of our past booklets are also available for you to download free of charge.  You do need Adobe 5.0 reader loaded on your computer in order to download any of the files, and this is a free download from adobe.com if you don't already have the reader on your computer.  If you ever have suggestions for topics and/or guests, please e-mail me.  I'm always looking for new ideas. Again, thanks so much for watching “Creative Living.”

DON’T FORGET: If you haven’t already subscribed for our e-Newsletter, you can do so now.  Sign up HERE.  It is a shorter version of our online booklets, and will provide up-to-date information that you will find interesting.  All you have to do is send me your e-mail address, and I’ll set up your FREE subscription.  Send it to me at: sheryl.borden@enmu.edu.  I also welcome input from any of you who want to contribute something worthwhile to our e-Newsletter.  If you ever want to look at past issues of the Creative Living Newsletter, those are now available on our website as well. Read the current Creative Living Newsletter.

Weight Control by Behavior Modification

The first and most important step in beginning any weight-control program is to see your doctor.  If your doctor says it is all right, then you may start.

You must "really want" to lose weight in order to be successful.

You must accept the fact that there is no shortcut to successful weight control.  Fad diets are dangerous; they do not change lifetime eating habits so the weight will come right back on.  Diet is a poor way to think of weight control because the word denotes a short term activity.

You should lose no more than an average of one or two pounds a week.  After all, you didn't gain it that fast to begin with.
